I am interested in species interactions and how these interactions can have large and unexpected effects on communities and ecosystems. I focus on putting parasites in a community context. I am interested in how parasites are structured across scales, respond to competition for hosts, and influence nutrient cycling through host changes. I primarily worked in aquatic systems on a wide variety of topics including metacommunity theory, resource allocation, and sociality. My work is primarily experimental, testing theory and using theory to make (and test!) predictions in the wild. My systems range from microcosms to entire oceans.
